Welcome

My name is Pete D. Camarillo and I am a dedicated media resource, innovative marketer, citizen entrepreneur and published writer. I've got extensive experience in journalism, marketing, communications, sales and public relations because I am self-driven and dedicated worker with passions for building relationships and generating media.

Currently, I serve as a senior account executive leading media relations strategy and outreach for a variety of high tech public and startup companies at the Ted Miller Group. Before joining tech agency PR life, I was a media relations specialist pitching media services and licensing partnerships for Business Wire. Here I managed proactive media relations for the global newswire across the West Coast. Public relations blends my elite relationship building skills and writing skills with my experiences thriving in marketing and sales roles.

Since finishing my journalism degree in 2015, I actively participate in Los Angeles chapters of ONA, SPJ, NABJ and AAJA. I've also been a guest speaker about journalism, sports and entrepreneurship at local colleges and high schools. I serve on the CSUN Journalism Alumni Association Board of Directors too.

Additionally, I co-host a weekly podcast show called TochdownsandTangents.com. it is available on most large podcast directories including Apple Podcasts and Google Play. Our guests range from prominent journalists and bloggers to local coaches and entrepreneurs. Various other sports and lifestyle podcasts feature me due to this experience.

Otherwise, my writing portfolio includes over 1,000 blogs, news articles and podcasts published across Stacker.com, Sports Betting Dime, Clutch Points, Cover 32, Inquisitr, Full Press Coverage, The Sports Daily, Fansided, Sports Out West and various other publications. I've also been a credentialed reporter covering the Los Angeles Lakers, Senior Bowl, Shrine Game and NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. More writing experiences include ghost writing for print, travel, aviation and automotive brands for a number of years as well as tutoring students.

In 2018, AAJA awarded me the Catalyst fellowship in 2018 for my entrepreneurial efforts. I am currently developing multiple sports media products as well. In 2019, I finished my Sports Industry Essentials certificate at Columbia's online professional school, with a scholarship from YellowBrick. My proudest achievement includes earning the Maynard Journalism Institute's Maynard 200 fellowship for media entrepreneurship.

All these past experiences contributed to my versatile digital perspective and relentless work ethic. This background includes working in media marketing for Icon Media Direct, community relations for the Clippers, public relations for the William S. Hart School District and two years selling household goods on commission for Sears.

Here are my digital resumes, work samples and mostly complete written archives. Feel free to check out some of my work or connect with me on any platform.
